Toi has been able to promote significant positive change within transgender communities, organizations, foundations and service projects. She, additionally, sits on various executive boards and panels locally and nationally alike. This lends an opportunity to delve in safe spaces which are created to support and elevate the fight for equality, inclusion, equity and the advancement and empowerment of Trans People of Color. She is a committed community advocate for the Trans community and has been privileged to work with the U.S. Center for Disease Control, Philadelphia Trans Health Conference, Black Girlz Rulez and her most recent work, SNaPCo and Women on the Rise. The latter are both nonprofit organizations specializing in the plight of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women in efforts to help close the Atlanta City Detention center. Toi has cemented her leadership, with successful completion, through many amazing cohorts and leadership academies and as a graduate of SNAP 4 Freedom School. Her final assignment for SNAP 4 Freedom School, she assisted in organizing the first Trans March in Atlanta Ga. Toi is also a part of The Transforming Movements Fund’s, Young Trans Women of Color (YTWOC) grantmaking program which helps address the lack of resources supporting leadership roles for women of color who are directly focused on trans issues. Ms. Washington was recently selected to be a part of the first Leadership Masterclass sponsored by AIDS United and the Transgender Strategy Center.
