PrEP & PEP Help in Atlanta

HIV prevention guidance before or after a possible exposure.

PrEP is HIV prevention medication taken before exposure. It may be an option for people who want additional protection from HIV.

PEP is emergency HIV prevention medication taken after a possible exposure. It must be started within 72 hours, and sooner is better.

POWER Atlanta Inc. provides confidential education, screening, and referrals. A clinician or prescribing provider will determine whether medication is appropriate for you.

You may want to talk with us if:

  • You want to learn whether PrEP could fit your life
  • You have a partner living with HIV or whose status is unknown
  • You have had a recent possible HIV exposure
  • You want HIV or STI testing
  • You need help finding a PrEP or PEP provider

PrEP or PEP—Which One?

PrEP is planned protection. PEP is urgent.

PrEP is used before exposure as an ongoing HIV prevention option. PEP is used after a possible exposure and must be started within 72 hours.

If your possible exposure happened within the last 72 hours, seek urgent medical care now. Do not wait for a routine appointment or a callback from this form.
